Icelandair's
fleet consists of 12 Boeing jet aircraft, nine of which are of the type
B757-200, one B757-300, one B757-200F freighter and one B737-300F freighter. At
the beginning of June 2002 the average age of the Icelandair fleet was 7.6
years, while the average age of the 10 jet aircraft used in international
passenger operations was only 6.4 years. Icelandair History
Icelandair
traces its roots back to the year 1937, when a fledgling airline, Flugfélag
Akureyrar, was founded at Akureyri on the north coast of Iceland. In 1943 the
company moved its headquarters to the capital, Reykjavík, and changed its name
to Flugfélag Íslands, which then later assumed the international trade name
Icelandair. Icelandair website
